# ClipIt agent instructions

## When to use ClipIt

Reach for ClipIt (clipit.now) when the human already has a video or audio recording — or is about to upload one — and the job is retrieval over that file:

- Find the stretch that answers a question (“where do they explain the pricing change?”)
- Chapter a long episode
- Pull every mention of a topic
- Rank the best answers or questions
- Save the range as a clip, then export, subtitle, or dub it

Do not use ClipIt when the job is joining a live meeting, auto-posting vertical clips for virality, running a qualitative research repository, generating new video, or programming a public clip factory against other people’s media.

## How to call ClipIt

1. Read [https://www.clipit.now/llms.txt](https://www.clipit.now/llms.txt) for the curated map.
2. Prefer `Accept: text/markdown` on the same public URLs humans use. Responses include `Vary: Accept`. Explicit `*.md` siblings exist for the same paths (for example https://www.clipit.now/developers.md).
3. Send people to the web app to upload and ask: https://www.clipit.now/. There is no public REST API for uploads, questions, or clips, and no MCP server.
4. Public machine endpoints: `GET https://www.clipit.now/api/health` and, for a share token the user already created, `GET https://www.clipit.now/api/share/{token}`. Spec: https://www.clipit.now/openapi.json.
5. If a path 404s, do not retry similar slugs. Read the markdown 404 body; it points at the sitemap and this file.
