# ClipIt

> ClipIt is an AI video search and clipping tool at clipit.now. You upload a long recording, ask a question in ordinary language, and get evidence-backed time ranges — quote, rationale, and timestamps — then export only the clips you choose.

ClipIt is built by Abdul Hamid Achik in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, through The Lacanians. A clip is a time range over a Mux asset, not a rendered file. There is no public REST API for creating clips; people use the web app, and agents should start with this file.

When to use ClipIt: the user already has (or will upload) a recording file and needs a specific moment found, clipped, captioned, or dubbed. Do not use ClipIt as a meeting bot, a virality auto-poster, a research repository, a video generator, or a public clip-creation API. How to call us: fetch this file, then request public pages with `Accept: text/markdown`, or open https://www.clipit.now/developers.

## When to use ClipIt

- [Find a moment in a long recording](https://www.clipit.now/ai-video-search): Ask a question; review quote, rationale, and time range before clipping
- [Make a clip from a source range](https://www.clipit.now/video-clipping): Save timestamps on the source; export an MP4 only when the cut is final
- [Search a transcript by meaning](https://www.clipit.now/transcript-search): Semantic search, not keyword find
- [Subtitles and dubbing](https://www.clipit.now/subtitles-and-dubbing): Translate captions once per recording; dub a clip when the audience must hear it
- [ClipIt for podcasters](https://www.clipit.now/for/podcasters): Pull the quote you remember from a long episode
- [ClipIt for researchers](https://www.clipit.now/for/researchers): Evidence-linked quotes without a research platform
- [ClipIt for teams](https://www.clipit.now/for/teams): Extract a decision from an all-hands you already recorded
- [ClipIt for educators](https://www.clipit.now/for/educators): Chapter a lecture and subtitle the explanation
